Hello, all. I’m Gretchen: Mother (of two), Wife, Full-time
Student (English), Master (to my handsome labradoodle: Bear), and oh yeah…a
newbie to running! It’s a lot to juggle, but no one said I am perfect.
Sometimes my house is a mess, pizza is dinner, and I’m so sore I have
difficulty walking down stairs---it happens. However, like most women, I want
it all, and I want it perfect. We all have dreams.
Dawning onto my 30th birthday I decided I wanted
to become a runner. After some research it became clear to me that the fountain
of youth is a long run. I’m still new to it all, but it’s a journey worth
sharing. Fortunately for me I live in one of America’s finest cities: San
Diego!!This is probably one of the best cities to become a runner. It’s kind
of hard to wake up to sunny skies and say ‘nope, not today’ to running.

| That's me #65, first 10K |
I participated in my first run (5K) in May of 2013: The Color Run. It was fun, but not timed. I wanted that challenge of race against time. In July 2013 I participated in a 4th of July 10K. I was beyond proud of my time: 55:27:2. That’s a PR for me. I’ll be participating in my first ½ marathon on September 1, 2013 at Disneyland.
